This piece is inspired by the sweet, unexpected love story of my Aunt Diana and Uncle Steve, who met in the '60s over a pair of Jimi Hendrix-inspired striped pants. My aunt walked by and told him she liked his pants, and my uncle's reply? "Well, my pants like you." And just like that, their story began.

The stripes in this painting are a nod to those iconic pants, while the flowers pay homage to the blooms Jimi Hendrix famously drew on his guitars. His powerful words remind us of something the world needs now more than ever: "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."

Raspberry-pink blooms rise on hand-drawn stems over a smoky field of gold, olive and soft gray. Drips of white, black and gold run down both edges, and vintage typewriter ads and old handwritten letters show through the layers. The quote is hand-lettered across the canvas, and the title finishes the sentence.

A little love story, a little rock 'n' roll, and a timeless reminder of the power of love.

Original painting, one of a kind, signed. Acrylic on mixed media with vintage paper collage. 36" x 36". Prints are not available. Shipping is paid by the buyer.
