That simple tag from Paddington Bear has always represented compassion, refuge, and humanity.

In this political satire piece, the words
“M”igration and immigration blur together through childish, imperfect lettering, much like today’s public conversations and policies surrounding immigration have become blurred, emotional, and increasingly aggressive. The backwards letters are intentional. Confusion is intentional.

When enforcement becomes louder than empathy, people themselves can become reduced to labels, headlines, or fear. But behind every political argument is still a human being asking to be “looked after.”

Art should challenge, question, and hold a mirror up to the moment we’re living in.

Color has always spoken to me…long before I had the words for it. As a child, I was captivated by the world of Rainbow Brite, where color wasn’t just seen… it was felt. That same sense of wonder lives in this piece.

Beneath every stroke of this horse are layered words: LOVE—repeated, buried, built upon. But love alone doesn’t quiet the noise.
Peace isn’t found; it’s chosen. It requires a shift in thinking, in perspective, and in what we allow to take root.

This piece became that shift.

Strength and softness. Chaos and control. Color and clarity, all coexisting, not competing.

Maybe peace isn’t the absence of color… maybe it’s learning how to stand still within it. ✨

Created as an assignment through Milan Art Institute, this piece pushed me in ways I didn’t expect. Capturing expression, especially in animals, was both challenging and eye-opening. It taught me to slow down, look beyond what I think I see, and truly study the shapes, values, and textures that bring life to a subject.

Every stroke became less about “drawing a dog” and more about understanding light, structure, and personality. Grateful for the growth this piece gave me and excited to keep exploring.

captures the sacred stillness just before revelation—the quiet moment where presence is felt, though nothing has yet been said.

Emerging from layered shadow and softened light, the owl stands as a silent witness—watchful, grounded, and deeply aware. It exists in that in-between space where darkness is not empty, but full… where something unseen is near, steady, and certain.

This piece reflects the gentle truth that even in silence, we are held. That before clarity comes, before light breaks through, there is a presence that watches over us—unwavering, constant, and unseen.

It is in this stillness… that we are known.

This soft echo was created to live beside Unexpected Florals — lighter, airier, with intentional space to breathe. But before the blues began to bloom, before the petals opened in fluid motion, I laid the true foundation.

In the very first layers, I wrote their names — John and Matthew.
Their wedding date.
The day they moved into their home.

While the paint was still wet, I folded those words into the composition — binding them between washes of ivory and tides of blue. Hidden, yet forever present. Not visible to the eye, but essential to the soul of the piece.

Now their story rests beneath every petal, woven into the movement, fused into the flow.
They are not only collectors of this work —
they are part of its foundation.

Art holds memory.
And this one holds theirs. 🤍

“Speak Your Freedom” was originally headed in a completely different direction - until a comment from @shananigans711 inspired me to pivot, trust the pull, and let it become the horse it was meant to be. That shift changed everything. This piece became about strength, movement, and the wild courage it takes to use your voice.

To the incredible collector who brought this home- thank you. Thank you for connecting with the story, the transformation, and the freedom woven into every layer.

And Shana... thank you for being part of the spark that shaped this piece.

Introducing the “Black Sheep Series”

I am dyslexic. Long before I had the language to name it, art became my voice.

By second grade, written language felt elusive—letters refused to stay still. They shifted, reversed, and danced across the page. Writing was not something I could access in the prescribed way, so I adapted instinctively by drawing letters instead. In my mind, language existed as shape, movement, and form rather than sequence. What I could not articulate as a child, I now understand: my brain processes text from right to left, with letters appearing reversed.

The Black Sheep Series emerges from this lived experience. In this body of work, I write and sign my name exactly as I have always seen it—backwards, right to left—honoring my natural perception rather than correcting it. This act is both personal and defiant. Learning to read and write “the right way” required relentless effort and remains a daily negotiation. Even with familiarity and sight recognition, comprehension carries a deeper complexity that is rarely visible from the outside.

Growing up in a generation where learning differently was labeled a disability, I internalized the idea that my way of seeing was something to overcome. Through this series, I challenge that narrative. These paintings reclaim dyslexia as a distinct visual language—one rooted in intuition, adaptation, and resilience.

This work celebrates the beauty of being the black sheep. By exposing my name as I have always known it, I invite viewers to reconsider what it means to read, to understand, and to belong.
